For today’s review, I’ll be talking about the Dr. Jart’s Peeling Solution (Carbonic acid) bubble mask. This mask is apart of the Dr. Jart’s Dermask line. According to the US site, these masks are meant to “provide individual treatment for quick skin restoration.” With all the pollution we’re having this year in Korea, my skin has been feeling extra dry and malnourished. That being said, I decided to buy this particular mask. Spoiler alert! I really enjoyed this mask, so I’ll be reviewing more from this brand in the future.
As you can tell from the photo, this is a two-step mask. It comes with the carbonic acid peeling essence that is ONLY activated by the pH balancing sheet mask. The carbon acid helps remove impurities in the face and is a favorite face cleansing ingredient here in Korea. Carbonic acid may sound scary, but its a very weak form of acid water and it works hahah. What sparked my interest in buying this mask was one, the carbonic acid, I knew it would be a unique experience and two the wear time. Per the instructions, you only leave it on for 3-5 minutes. Typical mask wear is roughly 15-20 minutes and once you remove the mask you to rub in essence. However, with this mask, you need to wash the essence off after removing the mask.
Alright, let’s get it. Here’s my trusty FQI that I’ll be using to rate this mask.
Smell: This mask had no scent. There’s a slight chemical scent, but I mean what mask isn’t unless you buy an organic only.
Application: This mask didn’t come with a protective layer, so it was super easy to get on. First, you apply the peeling essence, and then you apply the pH Balance mask, then the magic happens.
The Feels: After applying the mask my face felt like there were pop rocks all over it and you could even hear the popping! It was crazyyyy. The pH balance in the mask activates the peeling essence, and that’s when the “fireworks” go off lol. It only lasted for about two minutes, and it doesn’t hurt!
Post Removal: After removing the mask and essence, my face felt so soft! Remember not to rub in the essence; this mask requires you to wipe it off 🙂
Expectations: I really enjoyed the results of this mask! It’s meant to brighten and cleanse your face, and that’s precicly what it did.
Price: This mask is 5,000won. A little on the pricey side, but worth it! Also, Olive Young always has 1+1 sales, so if you’re lucky like I was, you may get the second one for free! 🙂
The only reason why I didn’t give this a complete 5 was that I expected bubbles, I mean if you’re going to call it a bubble mask, you better give me some bubbles!
If you live in Korea, you can buy this mask anywhere that sells Dr, Jart products. If you live in the states, unfortunately, I couldn’t find this mask online that ships to the US, but check your nearest beauty store that sells Korean beauty products. Hopefully, they carry it!
Like I said above, there was a 1+1 sale, so I bought two. I decided to compare how the mask felt when applying at night vs. in the morning (before putting on my makeup).
Morning results: Ok so this mask is fantastic as a morning moisturizer. Usually, my face gets super dry after applying my makeup, but my face stayed moisturized longer than usual. I applied my makeup around noon, and my face was still smooth and hydrated by 9:30 pm, which rarely happens even when using a moisturizing primer.
Night results: Again my face felt super soft and moisturized after removing the mask. My face looked and felt super clear and smooth the next day. My pores even got smaller!
If you live in Korea, because of the dry air, I would recommend using this mask in the am!
Hope you enjoyed this review!
Until next time! 🙂
